Berlin's unique festival for 'adventurous music and related visual arts' gears up for its 11th edition with a packed line-up of exhibitions, discussions, performances, and the very best underground music has to offer at the moment.
The 2010 edition of Club Transmediale has chosen 'Overlap' as its motto: Convergences in media technology, in aural and visual arts, in disciplines from film making and game design to fine arts, dance and theatre. From January 29 to February 7 Club Transmediale dedicates parts of its programme to each of these topics, such as with the extensive A MAZE. Interact symposium, a festival in its own right, which will cover the convergence of music, art and video games over the course of 5 days.
Representing the current state of club of and experimental music however remains a main focus of CTM.10, and for many the festival's impressive music line-up will alone be reason enough to spend the week in the Berlin. Highlights include Ryoji Ikeda, who will perform his 'Test Pattern' show, Atom TM with one of his legendary live performances, and CTM regular Mika Vainio. The current generation of electronic music artists will be represented by dubstep shooting stars like Joker, Rustie, and 2562, French retro-electronica wizard Etienne Jaumet, disco-pop acts Desire and Glass Candy, or enchanting neo-classic cellist Hildur Gudnadottir. Fans of house and techno also have something to look forward to with Cobblestone Jazz and friends scheduled for an entire evening at Berlin's WMF club and Joris Voorn and Deetron headlining the CTM afterhours at Berghain/Panoramabar. Many of the festival's most interesting artists are represented on the official CTM.10 compilation, which is available as a free and exclusive download from zero" until the end of the festival. |
