Hello,

This time around we put the spotlight on a generation of artists that approach their music making without genre-blinders, incorporating elements of house, techno, dubstep, electro, drum'n bass and broken beat into their brilliant productions.

Brand-new artist albums by FaltyDL and Egyptrixx stand out, while Kassem Mosse and Lowtec imbue their house with touches of dubstep, ASC and Data present a fresh take on drum'n bass, and Sven Weisemann explores dub electronica as Desolate, proving that the most exciting music defies easy categorisation.

 MORE BROKEN HOUSE ESSENTIALS

Album released 07-03-2011 on Night Slugs
The first full-length album to appear from London's future-ravers Night Slugs comes from Toronto-based Egyptrixx. A solid journey from experimental synth dronage to edgy electropop with guests from Canadian band Trust, epic neon minimal techno and the odd hi-energy dancefloor smasher. Winner.
Maxi-Single released 11-03-2011 on 50 Weapons
The latest smasher to land from Modeselektor's 50 Weapons series sees Doc Daneeka's UK funky and techno hybrids meet Benjamin Damage's next level rave ethic. Woozing synths and bold funky pressure of 'Creeper' match up to the dynamic bass drama and bouncing minimalism of 'Infamous'. Big!
Maxi-Single released 11-03-2011 on Lick My Deck
London's young über-talent Maya Jane Coles recently popped up on our radar with excellent classic house releases on Hypercolour and Mobilee, while as Nocturnal Sunshine she explores deep and dramatic, Burial-style dubstep terrain. Excellent!
Maxi-Single released 14-03-2011 on R&S Records
Since creating a storm with his 'Fram/Iddy' single on Hessle Audio last year, young UK producer Blawan brings his bass explorations to the R&S headquarters. Teasing out acid elements with a primal, percussive energy and admirable bass stature he delivers three pristine and unique dancefloor slammers. Massive.
Maxi-Single released 07-03-2011 on Cold World Industries
Hotly-tipped UK producer Becoming Real aka Toby Ridler releases his first EP. 'Closer' sees a grimey vibe haunting Zomby-style synth lines and r'n'b vocals over sparse beats, 'Antarctic City' adds a touch more roughed-up juke and a blindingly good Jam City remix revamps it devilishly. Mighty.
Album released 07-03-2011 on Fauxpas Musik
First full length album from Sven Weisemann's Desolate moniker sees him explore ambient, dubby atmospheres with a spine-tingling melancholy. While the Burial influence is clear, tracks like 'Pain' and 'Divinus' show how Desolate's sound fuses this emotion uniquely with his love of house and techno. Great.
Album released 14-01-2011 on Zyntax Motorcity
A collaboration between Finland's Matti Turunen aka Näköradiomies and Michael Diekmann aka CRC sees them exploring distant electro worlds. Weaving freeformed structures with a Drexciyan electroid wickedness, the duo's creations have a dreamy and earnest futuristic quality. Highly recommended.
Maxi-Single released 28-02-2011 on Well Rounded Records
Well Rounded release this delightful EP of deep UK Funky cuts imbued with the heady euphoria of UK rave and classic Detroit and Chicago. 'Great Dark Spot' surfs thick chord stabs and tickles with its agile percussion while DJ Dom's remix of 'Sell My Soul' bounces seductively with a devilish groove. Big!
