One of our favourite producers at the moment, Manchester's xxxy, could hardly have chosen a more fitting title for his All City debut: 'Kerpow' is a prime-grade breakbeat slammer that alternates big pads, cowbells and squarewave bass stabs. It's backed by 'Down With U' which gives a Juke-style hook a Drexciyan spin. Outstanding single!
All City presents the worldwide debut of The Midnight Eez. Reportedly a 1995/1996 mixtape demo given virtually anonymously to All City co-founder Splyce during a record buying excursion to NYC, this somewhat 'unauthorized' release will hopefully unearth its original creators to give them their overdue credit.
All Nights
(Track 01 on this EP)
The first part of All City's new 'Collabs' series has technostep master Martyn side with hip-hop experimentalist Mike Slott. 'All Nights' is a killer house track with a percussive dupstep groove beneath its Shed-style chords, which his followed by 'Pointing Fingers', a playfully abstract downbeat exercise in a FlyLo vein.
Parisian beatmaker Onra gets all retro with 'Long Distance', a great slice of downtempo electro R&B. Featured vocalists on the title track and its flip, the equally funky 'High Hopes', are Oliver DaySoul and Reggie B, also known from their work for All City and 4Lux. Should get steaming hot on the floor with this one.

Florian Schirmacher: "This is an incredible track, which I love to play in my sets. Dense, untight, funky, this has got a sick amount of soul in it."| categories | |
