Since the early 1990s Riley Reinhold has been pulling his strings behind the scenes of Germany's techno movement. Active as a DJ since 1984 in his home town Cologne, he soon turned to electronic music, founding the influential Cosmic Orgasm Soundsystem together with Sascha Kösch, a.k.a DJ Bleed. Together with Kösch he joined the editorial team of Frontpage, at the time the leading German language techno magazine, and quickly became one of the country's most influential electronic music critics.
When Frontpage folded in 1997, his focus however gradually bagan to shift: In 2000 Reinhold started the label Traum Schallplatten with a compilation of electronic music from Buenos Aires, which introduced then unknown Argentinian producers like Gustavo Lamas to a European audience. Traum was soon followed by Trapez, and eventually My Best Friend. All three labels have long become an integral part of the German electronic music landscape, publishing literally hundreds of releases by artists like Dinky, Dominik Eulberg, Extrawelt, Mihalis Safras, Nathan Fake, Nôze, and many, many others. His own productions have recently been picking up pace as well: Reinhold's acclaimed album 'Friends Are Silence' (as Triple R) was followed by a string of releases on My Best Friend Ltd., most recently the EP 'More Distortions'. For zero" Riley Reinhold has selected five of his favourite releases of timeless techno and house.
