Her recent team-up with AGF has once again brought Gudrun Gut to mind as the legendary doyenne of Germany's experimental music scene. Some thirty years ago Gut was part of an early incarnation of Einstürzende Neubauten and shortly after founded her all-girl new wave group Malaria!, a band whose influence has lasted until this day, with Chicks on Speed turning the Malaria! song Kaltes Klares Wasser' into a top-ten hit in 2001.

Over her entire career Gudrun Gut has been on the look-out for new music styles, famously collaborating with artists like Blixa Bargeld, Klaus Schulze (as part of Din A Testbild), Anita Lane, and founding the open collaboration platform Ocean Club, whose members include Thomas Fehlmann, Sun Electric, Daniel Meteo and Chica Paula.

Since 1997 Gut further runs the productive Monika Enterprise label, successfully promoting a mainly female roster of artists, including Barbara Morgenstern, Masha Qrella and Cobra Killer.

Most recently Gudrun Gut has teamed up with Antye Greie a.k.a. AGF as Greie Gut Fraktion. Together with the Finnish producer, known for her collaborations with Vladislav Delay and productions for BPitch and Ellen Allien, Gut has recorded the album 'Baustelle', a striking collection of minimalistic electronica songs, remixed by Alva Noto and Wolfgang Voigt on the accompanying single, 'Stadt Mixe'.

For zero" Gudrun Gut has picked five favourites she currently holds dear to her heart.
Track released 11-11-2009 on Laboratory Instinct
Gudrun Gut: "Highly underrated: the recent album from fantastic Tusia/Natalie Beridze from Georgia on Japanese label Laboratory Instinct. Tusia is an incredible talent. Unique. Top track. For all other fans besides myself: There will be an upcoming album on Monika Enterprises. And I know it is going to be wonderful. Tusia rules!"
Track released 08-05-2006 on Kompakt
Gudrun Gut: "The field is Axel from Sweden. He reinvented and redefined the loop for me. Sometimes a little bit like Moodyman, but still very unique. I love all his records and I am looking forward to a new one and attending a field concert. Great inspiration for my work. I chose a track from the first EP, which is still huge! I have all the records, and I am listening to them a lot."
Album released 17-10-2008 on Monika Enterprise
Gudrun Gut: "The 4 Women No Cry series is one of my favourite projects on Monika. This is part three and another great surprise for me what kind of music is being made by female bedroom producers all over the world. Lucrecia hails from Columbia and, with the help of her father, builds the most amazing electronic instruments. When I got the chance to see her play live I couldn't believe how talented she is: unique sound, brilliant voice, technique and charisma."
Album released 29-03-2010 on Kompakt
Gudrun Gut: "Great new LP. Like a breath of fresh air. The skill of how Thomas puts together the pieces of the soundtrack is what makes this stand out. There is always something challenging within his music in terms of musicality and the way of production. My favourite is 'Fluss im Wasser', and the part at the end, where the groove tips over into something completely different, I really like."
Album released 08-03-2010 on Warp Records
Gudrun Gut: "Ooh yes, Los Angeles. I have been there regularly over the last 10 years and just love the city and its music scene. Like the work of Flying Lotus, who I admire as well as a great beatmaster like Dabrye. For Gonjasufi he throws in his relaxed and headstrong side as a musician. This is artistic summer music of the first degree."
