Austrian three-piece Elektro Guzzi is currently one of the hottest new acts to watch out for. Their self-titled debut album has just been released on Stefan Goldmann's renowned Macro Recordings label and proves a simple rule: It only takes an original concept and impeccable technical execution to be successful.
Listening to 'Elektro Guzzi' might give you the impression of listening to percussive minimal techno. The album however has been recorded in its entirety by a classic three-piece rock band line-up, comprised of guitar, bass and drums. Instead of using machines, it can be argued that the three Viennese musicians Bernhard Breuer, Bernhard Hammer, and Jakob Schneidewind become machines themselves: Elektro Guzzi's super-precise playing is something to be witnessed live and has netted the group invitations to Berlin's Berghain, London's Fabric and Barcelona's Sónar festival this year.

Further adding to 'Elektro Guzzi's technical excellence, the album has been recorded and produced by Patrick Pulsinger, who currently seems back on top of things with his own album 'Impassive Skies' forthcoming on June 18. He has also produced the new album by Hercules & Love Affair album, set to follow later this year.

For zero" Elektro Guzzi have picked five of their all-time favourite tracks, and given their genre-bending approach it comes as little surprise that their selection includes music ranging from techno classics to experimental minimalism.
Track released 04-04-2008 on Basic Channel
Elektro Guzzi: "Basic Channel has always been an important source of inspiration for Elektro Guzzi. This classic track is just one example of their unique sound that has an immense deepness and is both minimal and multi-layered at the same time."
Track released 09-04-2008 on Raster-Noton
Elektro Guzzi: "Beautiful radical experimental stuff. We like Ikeda's approach to making music - as well as his song titles."
Track released 24-04-2006 on Touch
Elektro Guzzi: "Niblock is a great minimalist. Especially live, his drones can get really physical, and the music he creates by using overtones is amazing."
Track released 29-10-2007 on Tresor
Elektro Guzzi: "We listened a lot to this track and the whole 'Never Engine' record while rehearsing for the recording of our album. Cristian Vogel's sound aesthetic has influenced us since the beginning of the band."

'Elektro Guzzi' is available now, along with the single release of 'Hexenschuss / Elastic Bulb', both on Berlin's Macro Recordings.
