Call it witch house, chillwave, drag, or by any of the other tags bloggers have throw at the slowed down gothic-meets-dubstep beats that are oozing out of the US interwebs at the moment. The style is bound to collide with the mainstream any second now, and San Francisco based oOoOO (pronounced 'oh') is sure to be in a front-row seat when this happens. His self-titled 'oOoOO' EP on Brooklyn's Tri Angle label is his first release that doesn't come in a ridiculously limited edition, and should ensure that oOoOO's music will find an audience beyond initiated blog-crawlers. Think Bats for Lashes, produced by Joker on Valium, on a 10 Euro Casio keyboard, and you have an approximation of oOoOO's unique style.

This EP is featured in Feature #113:
A Primer to Witch House, Drag and Chillwave
'No witches in this house', reads the myspace page of Balam Acab, a.k.a. 19-year-old Brooklyn-based producer Alec Koone, whose 'See Birds EP' has been one of the finest slices of tripped-out, slow-motion dubtronica this year. Genres can be stigmas, and while more...

San Francisco-based newcomer, oOoOO, follows up on Balam Acab's excellent debut release with an enthralling debut of his own on the recently minted Tri Angle label. Haunting, emotional, and introspective the oOoOO EP brings darkness into the light in refreshing new ways.
