Lars Fenin became involved in making music as a guitarist in several of his home town Hamburg's post-wave/reggae-bands during the late 80s. After several visits to Berlin in 1992 he decided to move there and found himself in a rapidly developing environment of underground arts, clubs, and squatted house-parties. Continuing his post-rock business in a three-member band Fenin went more and more into dub/reggae type of music, and founded his own reggae - band Tribal Notes in 1995, musically ranging from dub/experimental to straight roots orientated songs. After experiencing Berlin's first outdoor rave and drum´n bass parties, Fenin bought his first synthesizer and an Atari 1040 ST in 1997, producing little dub/bass/electro pieces in his small home studio. Fenin's first recording appearance soon followed - on a vinyl compilation done by friends in Hamburg. Playing his first live sets, he soon got in touch with the freshly founded
Shitkatapult label, and in 2000 Fenin's first release followed under his alias
Herr Pitzelberger. Fenin has since released several 12"s and an album ('
Grounded') for
Shitkatapult as well as 12"s and remixes for labels like
Meteosound, Mitek, Echocord or Textone and has played live all over Europe.
