Zombie Nation started as a project by Munich based DJs Splank! (Florian Senfter) and
Mooner. Its first release on DJ Hell's
International Deejay Gigolo Records label in 1999 contained the surprise hit 'Kernkraft 400' (which used a sample of an old Commodore 64 tune by David Whittaker), which made it to number 2 in the UK and topped the charts in Greece and Denmark. After the subsequent debut album 'Leichenschmaus',
Mooner left the group, and Zombie Nation became the solo project of Splank!, who also records under the name
John Starlight.
In 2002 Senfter founded his own label
Dekathlon Records and in the beginning of 2005 the sublabel
UKW Records. The first release was the one sided 12" '
John's Addiction Pt. 1' and shortly after the single 'Paeng Paeng' which was also licensed to
Sven Väth's label
Cocoon Recordings. Most recently a collaboration of Zombie Nation and
Tiga has been released under the name
ZZT on
Tiga's label
Turbo Recordings.
