Xhin (pronounced 'sheen') has been crafting cutting-edge electronic music since 1997. Building a forte in sound design, he is best described as a sound futurist. His hypnotic rhythmic structures and compositional techniques incorporate elements of techno, tight sub bass, ambient and IDM, and have been picked up by German underground labels Ware, Stroboscopic Artefacts and Meerestief for a string of highly regarded releases.

Following up his album 'Sword' on Stroboscopic Artefacts last year, Singapore's Xhin appears on Belgium imprint Token. A brasher, more focussed palette sees Xhin booting out the warlike techno cry 'The Realm', heads-down whipping noise of 'Asymmetrical Four' and 'Through The Lines', a dark off-kilter beast.

As a prelude to Xhin's upcoming album Stroboscopic Artefacts treats us to four excellent remixes of the Singapore artist's tracks. Surgeon leads the way with Polygon-Window-style distortion, Dadub follows with a tribal dub take, Pfirter contributes straight pounding techno and Perc subtle electronica. Recommended.

Lucy and Xhin, current poster-boys of the austere and spacious techno style, hit it off on the latest single for Chris Liebing's CLR label. 'LX4' employs a stomping broken beat, which has become a trademark for Xhin lately, while 'LX5' makes use of a straight beat and subtle washed-out sound layers. Powerful tools.

A mighty new duo of Stroboscopic Artefacts head Lucy and Singapore's techno force Xhin for Chris Liebing's CLR imprint. 'LX2' is a dark and moody cavernous thumper, filling out at an eerie pace while 'LX3' flutters around the high-end with hypnotic squeaky textures. Top notch harder contemporary techno.
