The Maxi-Single Stereo Freeze / Mass Dreams Of The Future was reviewed:
Ever since its recent relaunch R&S Records has done a great job in adding some of the most interesting young dubstep artists to its roster. After James Blake and Pariah the next to contribute a release to the legendary label is Jack Dunning, a.k.a. Untold, who has received much attention for his unique dubstep productions as well is his label, Hemlock Recordings.

Untold's debut release for R&S, 'Stereo Freeze / Mass Dreams Of The Future', incorporates elements of cutting-edge dubstep beat-making while drawing on classic Detroit electro for inspiration.

'Stereo Freeze' is characterized by its mercilessly pounding, industrial electro groove, driven by staccato synths and rapid fire percussion, while a subsonic bassline carries along the groove and gives the track a modern day dubstep feel. The electro references continue on the single's second track, 'Mass Dreams Of The Future', where a one-minute intro of washed-out chords and bleeps gives way to a stomping electro-tech beat. Once again the interplay of subbass and bleepy bassline is responsible for adding a UK funky flavour to the track, while its rhythm and chords elicit memories of Drexciya, Dopplereffekt and Model 500.

With his R&S debut Untold manages to carry the sound of Detroit-style electro one big step into the future, while delivering a perfect tribute to the timeless legacy of one of the world's finest electronic music labels. Landmark release.
