After a small number of obscure ambient recordings, Stockholm's Axel Willner joined the Kompakt family in 2005 as The Field with the release of his 12" debut 'Things Keep Falling Down'. His combination of dreamy shoegaze psychedelia with 4/4 dance beats became an immediate success, followed by much acclaimed remix work for Thom Yorke or Popnoname. His second album Yesterday and Today has just been released on Kompakt.

Over The Ice (Track 01 on this Maxi-Single) was reviewed:
Gudrun Gut: "The field is Axel from Sweden. He reinvented and redefined the loop for me. Sometimes a little bit like Moodyman, but still very unique. I love all his records and I am looking forward to a new one and attending a field concert. Great inspiration for my work. I chose a track from the first EP, which is still huge!
