After a small number of obscure ambient recordings, Stockholm's Axel Willner joined the Kompakt family in 2005 as The Field with the release of his 12" debut 'Things Keep Falling Down'. His combination of dreamy shoegaze psychedelia with 4/4 dance beats became an immediate success, followed by much acclaimed remix work for Thom Yorke or Popnoname. His second album Yesterday and Today has just been released on Kompakt.
It's up to Junior Boys to remix the title track of Axel Willner recent album, who contrast its slow-grooving cosmic aesthetic with a dose of electronic sharpness. NYC hotshots Blondes supply a psychedelic techno version of 'It's Up There', and Mohn (Burger & Voigt) reshape 'Then It's White' as a dreamy ambient opera. Sweet.
