Kevin Martin gained notoriety during the 1990s as part of Techno Animal, a group he founded together with ex-Napalm Death and Godflesh member Justin Broadrick. Exploring the stylistic boundaries of hip hop, industrial and electronica for almost a decade with Techno Animal, Martin started his solo project The Bug in 1997. The project hit its stride by 2003, with The Bug's debut album '
Pressure' appearing on
Klein Records and Rephlex. Martin's noisy take on dubstep and ragga breaks - frequent collaborators include
Warrior Queen and
MC Flowdan - has since been signed to
Coldcut's influential
Ninja Tune label.
