Jochem George Paap, better known to the world of electronic music as Speedy J for his swiftness on the turntables, is a Dutch techno producer based out of Rotterdam. His introduction to the techno scene came in 1992 with the release of his minimal track 'Pullover', which saw him move away from the hardcore sounds that were popular at the time in Belgium and the Netherlands. His debut album 'Ginger' followed in 1993 and was released by Richie Hawtin's Plus 8 label in the US and Warp in the UK. 'G-Spot' followed in 1995 as well as a live album, 'live.' Subsequent releases 'Public Energy No.1' in 1997 and a 'Shocking Hobby' in 2000 saw Speedy J's productions taking an introspective turn and importantly influencing what has become known as 'intelligent techno.' 2002's 'Loudboxer' saw a return to Paap's minimal roots and his latest offering 'Red Shift' is an enjoyable techno trip through his minimal soundscapes.
