Dark, haunting lyrics sung over fragile piano chords and sparse machine beats make up the compositions of Soap&Skin, the project of classically trained pianist Anja Plaschg. Selling out solo concerts at the age of 18 on the basis of only one released song, 'Mr Gaunt Pt. 1000' on Berlin's Shitkatapult, has Plaschg tipped as the single most significant talent in Austrian pop music for decades. Her debut album 'Lovetune for Vacuum' has appeared on [PIAS] Recordings in spring 2009 to international acclaim.

Addison Groove, Barker & Baumecker, Monolake
Right in time for the weekend here's our selection of this month's highlight releases. And what a great month it has been with new albums by Addison Groove, Vince Watson, Monolake, Soap & Skin, Julia Holter, The Host, and Damon Albarn's Rocket Juice & The Moon more...
Three years after her sensational debut album, 'Lovetune For Vacuum', Soap&Skin returns with a new mini-album that's every bit as dark and emotional as its predecessor. Even a lighthearted pop song such as 'Voyage Voyage' succumbs to the aura of desperation created by Anja Plaschg's voice, piano playing and subtle electronics. Spine chilling.
