The Universal Music Group (UMG) is the world's largest music label with an estimated share of 25% of the global music market. Its history dating back to 1898 and the foundation of the Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft, UMG was established in the mid-1990s as the result of a series of merger involving prominent labels such as MCA, Decca and PolyDor. Since 2000 UMG is a subsidiary of French media corporation Vivendi, its global headquarters are located in New York and LA, with major regional offices in London, Berlin and Tokyo.
