Glaswegians Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle founded Slam at the beginning of the 90s alongside their label Soma Quality Recordings. Slam's second single, 'Positive Education', proved to be a milestone hit and established both Slam and Soma at the forefront of the Scottish techno movement. Both group and label are still going strong today, with Slam having recorded four studio albums and countless singles to this date, and Soma looking back on a glamorous history of breaking artist like Daft Punk, Alex Smoke, Silicone Soul and Funk D'Void.
The Black Dog's 'Music For Real Airports' was without a doubt one of the outstanding albums of the year, proving that the Sheffield electronica veterans still have what it takes after all these years. Their 'CCTV Nation' was turned into one of our favourite techno anthems of 2010 at the hands of Glasgow's Slam.

The Maxi-Single Slam vs The Black Dog
was reviewed:
UK techno heroes Slam and The Black Dog take on each other's tracks for a killer single: Slam deliver a stripped down version of 'CCTV Nation', one of the hits on Black Dog's 'Further Vexations' album, while Black Dog spice up Slam's 'Azure' with some serious Detroit flavours. Devastating.
