The tricky spelling of its name has not stopped BPitch Control to establish itself as one of the top brands for European techno: Founded by superstar DJ and producer Ellen Allien in East Berlin more than a decade ago, the label started out with a constant stream of beautifully designed releases, bridging the gaps between Techno, electro, IDM and pop music. Ever since scoring its first chart hit - TokTok & Soffy O.'s 'Missy Queen's Gonna Die' - the label has consistently gone from strength to strength, managing to establish quite a few of its home-grown artists in the jet set league of electronic music: Modeselektor, Paul Kalkbrenner, Sascha Funke, and of course label wner Ellen Allien herself.
The EP Anapol
was reviewed:
The self-proclaimed two men and a mini-moog appear with their first release on BPitch Records and make a fine addition. 'Purgatory Five's melodic techno glow a little ode to their label boss, 'Anapol' cruising with disco funk and ending in wicked humour in sleazy disco house. Excellent.
