Despite a number of prior contributions to Sonar Kollektiv or Bungalow, it was Siriusmo's brilliant remix of Modeselektor's 'Silikon' off their 2005 hit album 'Hello Mom!' that put the young Berlin based producer into the spotlight. His intricate brand of sample-heavy electro-funk continues to amaze - check his 'Allthegirls' EP for Berlin's Exploited label or his recent EP 'The Uninvited Guest'.

It's certainly been a while since Siriusmo has been Berlin's best kept musical secret. After early contributions to Sonar Kollektiv and Bungalow Records, the notoriously publicity-shy producer first caught the public eye in 2006 with his remix of Modeselektor's 'Silikon'.

Barely four minutes long, the track sparkled with musical ingenuity, placing fat, funked-up synths against the backdrop of a casually grooving 2-step beat. Soon the young producer was sought out by acts like Boys Noize, Simian Mobile Disco, Chromeo, and Scissor Sisters to add his gifted touch to their productions.

All the while Siriusmo has stayed loyal to his buddies from Modeselektor however, and when the two Berlin homeboys launched their Monkeytown imprint in 2009 Siriusmo was the first artist to release on the fledgling label.

Now, almost two years later, Monkeytown presents its first artist album and once again it has Siriusmo in the driving seat. 'Mosaik' is the programmatic title of his full-length debut, and it's an album that's happy to take you for a ride. Grimy techno beats meet Latin percussions, jazzy Rhodes keys, Japanese conversations, and classic electro flavours - and this is just describing a single one ('Siramande') of the album's 17 tracks.

'Mosaik' is a firework of creative ideas, liberally referencing disco, dubstep, hip-hop, dub, synth-pop, krautrock, and funk in rapid-fire succession. As the album progresses it in fact becomes increasingly hard to think of a musical genre that Siriusmo hasn't studied, chopped up, and integrated into his very personal pastiche puzzle of an album. Hugely entertaining and highly recommended.
