One of Switzerland's finest production talents has quite a bit of musical history to look back upon: DJing since 1989 under the name Shaka, Kurt Spichiger's musical initiation came at age 13, when he learned to play the saxophone. During the early 90s he began to organize small parties and DJ professionally, mostly booked in the smaller rooms at the big events, which he appreciated for their intimacy and the freedom to explore more complex mixes and music. Shaka's production career began in the mid-90s for Swiss label Axodya, Woody McBride's Communique and Canada's Revolver Records. Between 2000 and 2005 he took a break from releasing records, instead perfecting his production style and exploring new technologies, ideas, and sounds. From 2004 on, Shaka began to unleash a fresh barrage of new, funk-infused releases for Morris / Audio, Floppy Funk, Revolver and Stattmusik, and with an album and plenty of new singles lined up for 2009, there's no sign of stopping.
