Paul 'Seiji' Dolby started in music as a classically trained cellist, but as a teenager in the early 1990s he discovered hardcore, jungle and later US house music. His early experiments in electronic music were released on the seminal jungle/d'n'b label, Reinforced. As a founding member of West London collective Bugz in the Attic, Seiji was one of the pioneers of broken beat, playing regularly at the legendary Sunday club night Co-Op, and taking the broken sound all over the world. After leaving Bugz in 2007, Seiji released 'DJ Tools', an experimental beats album, on Sonar Kollektiv, at the same time as producing and co-writing much of Roisin Murphy's 'Overpowered' LP. Seiji's influence is now more keenly felt than ever, with myriad UK funky and contemporary garage producers referencing his work. He has now returned to underground dance music, presenting his own fresh and eccentric take on bass heavy music.
