Also known under his DJ S2 moniker, L.A.-native Santiago Salazar started DJing in the early 90s, inspired by mix tapes his brother brought back from the gay underground house scene. Salazar eventually moved to Detroit, where he soon connected with Mike Banks and the Underground Resistance crew. He became a core member of the Los Hermanos and Galaxy 2 Galaxy live bands, using his DJ skills to control the flow and intensity of the live performances. Alongside long time friend Esteban Adame, Santiago recently formed Ican (short for mexican), a project which has released a number of highly acclaimed 12"s both on Carl Craig's Planet E imprint as well as their own label Ican Productions. Salazar's latest project is Historia y Violencia, a series of split releases with Juan Mendez a.k.a. Silent Servant.

The EP La Soledad / Caja De Luz
was reviewed:
The sixth Historia Y Violencia instalment has David Alvarado (Ovum, Peacefrog) join the fray. His 'La Soledad' is a mightily peaking dub techno bomb, while Santiago Salazar drops a fantastic UR-style deep techno track with 'Caja De Luz'. Absolutely spectacular release.
