One of the most distinct electronic music producers originating from Japan, Ryoji Ikeda began his career as a sound artist and DJ during the 90s, raising attention with his compositions for groundbreaking multimedia art group Dumb Type. Since 1995 he has been intensely active in sound art through concerts, sound installations and recordings, crafting a unique style that frequently references time codes and pulse repetition. His albums +/- (1996), 0ºC (1998) and the recent Matrix (2001) have been hailed by critics as some of the most radical and innovative examples of contemporary electronic music.
