Chicago native Ron Trent became a DJ in the mid eighties, releasing his first record 'The Afterlife' in 1990 at age 17. The single's b-side, 'Altered States' (featuring edits by Chicago house legend Armando), became an instant classic, still regularly heard in clubs today. In the early nineties, Trent went on to set up Prescription Records together with Chez Damier, widely regarded as one of the most influential deep house imprints. Over the years Ron Trent's sound developed to incorporate more soulful elements, as well as traces of dub & reggae, greatly influencing the current generation of US house music artists such as Theo Parrish.
