Growing up in Detroit's Hispanic community had Rolando Rocha pick up influences from Latin rhythms and percussion at an early, encouraged by his musical fathers. Inspired by the music of Jeff Mills, Rolando developed an interest in techno, eventually becoming a member of Detroit's fabled
Underground Resistance crew. Mentored by
Mad Mike, Rolando ventured into production and struck it big with 1999's '
Knights Of the Jaguar', which became one of the biggest hits in Detroit techno history. Together with Gerald Mitchell he founded the
Los Hermanos project, dedicated to a percussive techno style, yet in 2005 Rolando parted with both Los Hermanos and UR to focus on his solo projects.
