Dubbed 'The Math Assassin' for his scientific approach to composition, Robert Hood became known during the 90s through his releases for Detroit label Hardwax and as a member of Underground Resistance. After his split from the legendary techno outfit he founded his own label M-Plant, defining the minimal techno style with his ground-breaking 'Minimal Nation' album. He has recorded for many of the world's leading techno labels including Metroplex, Peacefrog, Cheap Records and Tresor with his most recent outings - the 'Hoodmusic' series - appearing on Music Man.

A stone-cold Robert Hood classic from 1996, 'Funky Souls' started off Hood's Floorplan series, which applied the man's minimalist production style to the realm of soulful disco sample-house with amazing results. Jacking, warm and hypnotic, this is still highly playable today.

Two more deadly killer cuts from the don of minimal techno Robert Hood. Once again essential, funked-up, banging techno which shouldn't be missed by anyone under any circumstances. Do we hear some UK funky styles there on 'Clash'? Huge recommendation.

Detroit's math assassin takes to the decks and shows us what this techno thing is all about. Hood's idea of minimalism is all but devoid of soul, his griping live mix using his source material as parts to be assembled, from classics to news and own exclusive tracks. Brilliant.

The Pace (Track 01 on this Maxi-Single) was reviewed:
Sandwell District: "Classic, timeless Rob Hood. Originally released in 1996, and it still sounds as fresh as it ever has. Both tracks. I always loved how right in the middle of 'The Pace' he mixes out the main line and brings in his signature, 'Movable Parts', SH-101 line. Legend."
