Masked producer Redshape first appeared on the scene in 2006 and his elegant productions of Detroit-influenced techno had people immediately guessing about the origins of this mystery man. His productions have so far appeared on labels such as Delsin, Music Man, Styrax Leaves and his own outlet Present and have frequently been compared to Carl Craig for their hypnotic hook lines and effective arrangements.

When it comes to Redshape, we readily admit to our unconditional fandom. Ever since the masked avenger first appeared on the scene, he has been taking the world of techno by its horns and bending its rules to suite his needs.
As indebted his production may be to the sound of Detroit techno, Redshape's style is distinctly his own. His stoic percussions and drifting arrangements have often been likened to Carl Craig, but Redshape's approach is a more physical one, owing more to the immediacy of Tresor's basement floor than to the sophistication of Motor City soul.
That is not to say that 'Red Pack' lacks soul. On the contrary, just like every Redshape record its six tracks are intricately layered and emotional affairs. It is just that its long, meandering tracks frequently offer the possibility to add an extra layer of percussion and open the filters on those sawtooth lines - and Redshape is often ready to oblige for a moment of perfect elation.
Put in contrast to the subtle restraint he exercises over much of his tracks, these slowly building peak-time moments are what makes Redshape's sound great, and 'Red Pack' once again offers plenty of those. Across its six tracks, 'Red Pack' is a wonderful, timeless techno album, which should not be missed out on.
