Prins Thomas Prins Thomas Prins Thomas Music Producer (MP3 Downloads) Artist Full Pupp
Thomas Moen Hermansen better knowns as Prins Thomas is responsible for a swag of eclectic space disco sounds emanating from his homeland, Norway. For sure more than an insider tip he gained highest respect in recent times as a producer, DJ, remixer and editor. Starting out as a break dancer Thomas began early to mix hip hop and electro being heavily inspired by artists like Arthur Baker and Shep Pettibone. He joined forces with Hans-Peter Lindstrøm in 2003. They both have backgrounds in different Norwegian band projects, ranging from punk to gospel to heavy metal to folk and psychedelia, but they also shared a passion for collecting all kinds of records and run their own labels Feedelity, Full Pupp and Internasjonal.

Inventively crowning himself Prins Thomas II for his second LP, heir of the Norwegian disco throne lathers up cosmic disco synths with krauty electronics and impeccably crafted percussive workouts. The soul of Arthur Russell vibing strong in 'Tjukkas pa karussel'. Includes continuous mix version. Excellent.

For the cover of his album, Prins Thomas poses in what might well be his living room, confidently wearing out his favourite lumberjack shirt. The picture tells more than a thousand words about the Norwegian disco star's first solo full-length: 'Prins Thomas' is a down-to-earth affair, hand-crafted by Thomas and friends in his own Oslo-based studio.

Track titles like 'Wendy not Walter' and 'Sauerkraut' give further insights into where Prins Thomas is taking us this time: disco-infused 70s space rock, not unlike his latest album with Lindstrøm, last year's 'II'.

Clocking in at just short of 10 minutes each, the album's tracks are given much room to build and develop, while keeping their structure and pacing intact. Thomas' long-time collaborator Hans-Peter Lindstrøm as well as Todd Terje also feature, joining the jam on keyboards and trumpet.

Appealing to fans of cosmic disco and krautrock alike, 'Prins Thomas' is a thoroughly likeable album, which, above all, sounds like it must have been a lot of fun recording it.

Norwegian disco royalty Prins Thomas appears with some jacking electro house. 'Lang Tung Ting' has a sprawling fat acid bassline, 'Tom Peng Pung' continues similarly with a floatier space vibe, whilst 'Ny Maskin' comes more generously dosed with cosmic disco feelers and with a bonus percussive workout.

I Like The Sun (Prins Thomas Diskomiks) (Track 03 on this Maxi-Single) was reviewed:
Arto Mwambe: "A very sharp and large real drum disko sword! Although on a strange label this mix is on point. Played it a lot! The vinyl is separated in three different parts by Eye-Cue-Cutting - Very helpful!"
