Phon_o, with releases on Shitkatapult and Cytrax of the past twelve years, became a firm member of the 50Weapons family with a stream of EPs last year. The full-length format gives perfect scope for his agile electronics infused with dubstep and UKG and poppier tracks with vocalist Tunde Olaniran. Great album.

After a stunning split-single with Anstam, Phon.o releases a further single on 50 Weapons. 'Slavemode' a broody, crisp, growling bass-stepper supplemented with euphoric chords while 'Abbey Road' sees tensely ebbing synths, teased with micro-sampled UKG vocals. Big tunes!

Berlin bass boy Phon.o finds a new home in Modeselektor's Monkeytown label for his new double pack: 'ABAW 723' and 'Sad Happiness' tick all the right boxes, from dub elements to anthemic harmonies for maximum melodramatic effect. Nice one.
