With a number of releases on labels such as Detroit Underground
and Shitkatapult,
Phon.o, or Carsten Aermes to his mum, has pioneered a tough electronic sound that sits somewhere in between the twin towers of house & techno. Getting his break supporting Funkstörung on their European tour, in more recent times he has teamed up with Chris De Luca
to form CLP. They have taken their live show on the road to devastating effect, driving people crazy with a mixture of ghetto bass, jacking techno and intergalactic house that re-injects the fun factor into Europe's techno scene.

This Maxi-Single is featured in Update #059:
Instra:mental, Art Department, Panda Bear
The resurgence of classic electro was a surprising trend this month - check Instra:mental's stunning album below - but really fans of all styles and genres should have something to drool over, with Robag Wruhme, Kode9, Panda Bear, Art Department, Burial, more...
After a stunning split-single with Anstam, Phon.o releases a further single on 50 Weapons. 'Slavemode' a broody, crisp, growling bass-stepper supplemented with euphoric chords while 'Abbey Road' sees tensely ebbing synths, teased with micro-sampled UKG vocals. Big tunes!
