Ian Clark became known as half of Le Car, the first modern Detroit electro group to extensively reference 80s european synth-pop in music and style. Le Car split in 2000 and Clark's partner Adam Lee Miller became widely successful with his electro-rock outfit Adult. Clark meanwhile focused on his project Perspects, fusing his synth-pop roots with more experimental sound design and John Foxx-style vocals.
