Hailing from the suburban Icelandic town of Mosfellsbær, just a few kilometres outside of Reykjavík, Ólafur Arnalds has immersed himself completely in a world of delicate symphonic compositions generating near weightless orchestral pieces. Arnalds explores the crossover from classical to pop by mixing chamber strings and piano with discreet electronics which makes him a perfect fit for cinematic music label Erased Tapes.

Ólafur Arnalds combines neo-classical compositions with a distinct pop music approach, and doesn't shy away from adding occasional rock drums to his subtle chamber music pieces. Not a bad thing, even if we prefer his sublime beatless tracks. Now including a lovely cel-shaded video!
