Brought together by rather obscure family relations, Rumanian-born Nicolas Sfintescu and Frenchman Ezéchiel Pailhès started releasing music as Nôze in 2004 and since that time run the Circus Company label. Known for their off-beat sense of humour, Nôze produce rough and dirty minimal house tracks, often throwing charming Tom Waits-style vocals or obscure cut-up sound sources into the mix. With their most recent album 'Songs On The Rocks' for Get Physical, the two have become more adventurous then ever, adding Chanson-style singing and Balkan-brass, which wouldn't sound out of place in the score of an Emir Kusturica movie.

The Album Songs On The Rocks
was reviewed:
Classic album by French duo Nôze, combining blues, gypsy music, piano ballads, and of course their unique style of cut-up house music. Includes their all-time favourites 'Remember Love' and 'You Have To Dance', the title of which is to be taken quite literally, at least after a few drinks!
