Founded in 1990 by East-Coast techno legend Frankie Bones, his brother Adam X and fellow DJ Heather Heart, Sonic Groove started out as a Brooklyn-based record store, which moved to Manhattan during the mid-90s and spawned a label of the same name. Label and shop both played a major role in spreading the word of techno along the US-American East Coast, exposing European artists like Neil Landstrumm (as Polaris) or Dave Clarke to a wider audience. The Sonic Groove record store sadly closed its doors in 2004, but the label has since continued its operation.
