Icelandic band Múm was started by teenage friends Gunnar and Örvar together with twin sisters Kristin and Gyda: the boys were making music on their Amigas, while the girls threw their piano and violin training into the band's charming mix of indie folk and electronica. Their 2001 debut album '
Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today Is OK' became a big sucess, leading to extensive touring and three more albums for British label FatCat. 2006 saw the band reduced to just Gunnar and Örvar, after Kristin quit the band to pursue a solo career. (Gyda had already left a few years earlier, continuing her classical music studies.) For recording their fifth album '
Sing Along To Songs You Don't Know' the two guys were joined by the amazing
Hildur Gudnadottir and various members of
Benni Hemm Hemm.
