Quentin Dupieux a.k.a. Mr. Oizo broke into the limelight when a track off his second EP 'Flat Beat' was surprisingly used for a Levis commercial in 1998. The clip, which featured a yellow stuffed animal going by the name of Flat Eric, became immensely successful and both Oizo and Eric became popular media figures over night. The hype proved both a blessing as a curse as many of Oizo's productions for F Communications were less accessible than the hit he had become synonymous with. His debut album 'Analog Worms Attack' consisted mainly of distorted glitch-hop edits, aided by then hip hop scratcher Feadz. Mr. Oizo however stuck to his guns and emerged from the long shadow of 'Flat Beat' as one of France's leading electronic music acts: His style had paved the way for the fidgety new rave รก la Ed Banger, and when F Communications ran into difficulties, he promptly signed a deal with the hip Parisian label. Dupieux is also an aspiring film director - his first motion picture 'Steak' saw him collaborating with SebastiAn and Sebastien Tellier on the movie's soundtrack.
