Like all successful producing-duos Mouse on Mars met under dubious circumstances. According to their website they met at a health food store in 1993 in the Cologne and Düsseldorf area. Ever since Mouse on Mars managed to bridge the gap between experimental productions and music that is suited for clubs, resulting in tours in Japan, the United States, Europe and India, as well as in remixes for New Wave icon Anne Clarke. In 2000, Mouse on Mars founded sonig to create an outlet for their own music as well as for like-minded artists such as Schlammpeitziger or Lithops.
