Every producer of electronic music has at one time or another meditated on the medium and tools of the trade (computers, synthesizer, mixers, etc) necessary for making sounds, and how their manipulation by the inspired controller (you) creates, as if almost by magic, music. Exploring this question, perhaps further than most, is Robert Henke, also known as Monolake. Monolake's minimal, dub-inflected techno has helped establish the sound of Berlin's Chain Reaction label as well as the experimental use of dub techniques in techno as a whole. Originally consisting of only Henke and Gerhard Behles, Behles has since decided to focus on running his software music company Ableton.
