Visionary techno producer and strong advocate of minimalism, Robert Hood, founded M-Plant to support the evolution of this bare and stylish form of electro. A firm believer that minimalism has transcended the genre of techno and become its own style of music, Hood likens it to an art form and is quick to scoff at the suggestion that minimal is just a passing trend. Says Hood, 'where I'm at right now is embracing minimalism and seeing how far I can push it - in my interpretation of what simplicity and the music is all about. I am really representing it as an art form and not a trend. As the future evolves, we're going to get more and more minimal.' If these words are anything to go by, expect the best 'Detroit' minimal to come out on M-Plant.

Two Robert Hood classics from 1996, recorded under his Monobox guise. Ultra-minimalistic, yet highly atmospheric, 'Realm 1' and 'Realm 2' subtle arrange chords, bleeps and filtered vocals over the math assassin's extra-dry rhythm work. Untouchable.
