The fact that Roedelius and Moebius release new albums in the same month is certainly a noteworthy coincidence after all these years. If you're into industrial downbeat experiments with a touch of Drexciya and Oni Ayhun ('Bone'!) then Moebius might even have a slight edge over his former colleague. Excellent.

Following up their (also just reissued) collaboration debut 'Strange Music' from 1984, Moebius and Beerbohm reduce things to their essence two years later, focusing on minimalistic synth sequences and metallic rhythms, with the 22min 'Doppelschnitt' being amazing proto-techno. Classic.

The ground breaking solo album from German electronic music pioneer Dieter Moebius, known for his works with Cluster, Harmonia and Brian Eno. Originally released in 1983 'Tonspuren' impressively plays with minimal rhythmic structures and pop influenced melodies, turning each piece in thoughtfully composed songs. Tracks like 'Hasenheide' or 'Furbo' give us only a slight feeling of the major impact these forward thinking compositions had on later techno productions that should take Germany's dance floors by storm. A highly recommended album not only for the keen listener.
