Mixing deconstructed sounds with funky beats to create minimal dance textures, Stockholm's Mikael Stavöstrand is known as a key figure in the Swedish electronic music scene. His distinct execution of minimal club techno, as well as his production of some of the most essential experimental electronic music of the last several years including his recent release 'Waiting Fo So Long Reworked' on Lick My Deck is his calling card in the world of minimal. His straightforward sound is driven by the beat like a steady moving train on tracks that rarely deviate from their 4/4 rails. Though Stavöstrand's first foray into music production in the early nineties was in the industrial genre, it wasn't until 2000 that minimal techno piqued his interest. Along with his productions, Stavöstrand founded his own label, Sunset Diskos, in 2006 and also ran Mitek, a Swedish electronic music label from 2000 - 2007.
