Finding the sonic potentials of the guitar too limiting for his musical palette, and coupled with the growing desire to create sounds that people had never heard before, Marek Hemmann set down the path of acquiring samplers and synthesizers for the production of techno music. His hometown of Gera, Germany provided just enough inspiration in the form of weekly techno parties at which he could soak up the atmosphere of the music, the people, and the vibes that the staccato bass lines, fat kick drums and shimmering waves of percussion had on its listeners. Within a few years of Marek's introduction to techno, and with the encouragement of his friends, he began to play his own music live and discovered his love for performing. Though Marek's sound can best be defined as minimal for its percussion driven arrangements, he has a wonderful talent for adding just the right amount of melodic elements to counterpoint the beat without overwhelming the listener. In 2005 Marek moved to Jena, Germany which is home to his studio as well as the label Freude Am Tanzen for which he's been producing music since 2003, his first release on the label being the 'Guten Tag EP.'

Whoever predicted techno to be a passing fad some 20 years ago couldn't have been much further from the truth. The demand for straight kickdrums and synthetic basslines is as high as ever, and techno music continues to develop in ways no one could have more...
A surprising slice of pop by Marek Hemmann, who teams up with Fabian Reichelt for 'Left / Right', two vocal techno groovers with a bluesy country music feel. Just the right tracks for the summer festival season.
