To clear up any confusion right of the bat, German DJ and producer Malente got his name because he happened to be born in the small north German town of Malente, so don't believe any of the dubious rumors. Known for his bass laden, dance floor shaking productions as well as his DJ sets which have become legendary in their own right, Malente's first album 'The Spirit of Malente,' released in 2000, introduced the world to his synthesis of the organic sounds of 70s funk with electronica. His second album 'No Risk No Funk,' came two years later and the single 'We Came To Party' was a big hit getting plenty of play on MTV and the German music channel VIVA. The maxi single Manrox released on Luscious Sounds further cemented his status as one of Germany's top producers of electronic music. In 2008 Malente was voted 'Top National Act' of the German club charts, a prestigious award being that is comes from Germany's club DJs themselves.
