Brooklyn's Travis Stewart has been recording his explorations of abstract broken beats for the sadly defunct Merck label since the early 2000s under his Machinedrum alias. In recent times he has hooked up with the highly recommendable Lucky Me imprint for the release of his 'Many Faces' album, an eclectic journey through experimental hip-hop, dub-step and granular acid styles. He has further remixed Jimmy Edgar's 'Hot, Raw, Sex single and featured on Ghostly International's recent 'The Nocturnal Suite' compilation.

The EP Many Faces LP was reviewed:
Machinedrum, has been cooking with gas lately for stellar release on Hotflush Recordings (with Praveen, as Sepalcure) and with this exceptional LP for LuckyMe (home of Mike Slott, HudMo, Rustie). Not confined to any simple genre classifications, 'Many Faces' is an unhinged exploration of synth and bass.

The EP Many Faces LP is featured in Update #026:
Mount Kimbie, ASC, Peverelist
It's all coming apart. For years dubstep has seemed like a field of limitless possibilities, its syncopated rhythms and wobbly basslines lending themselves to endless permutation. All this has changed over the past few months. Where a year ago only the more...
