MRI's inventive breach into the world of electronic music in 2000 by way of their first album, 'Rhythmogenesis,' capped off the beginnings of a new genre, now known as microhouse, by blending the moody sounds of old house, dub, and the more contemporary mash up of waveform surgery. 'Rhythmogenesis' was a collection of previously released EPs: 'Dauerläfter,' 'II,' and 'To Be Honest.' The gentlemen behind the infectious beats and noises of MRI, Frank Elting and Stephan Lieb, followed 'Rhythmogenesis' up in 2002 with 'All That Glitters,' also released on Force Tracks. After a string of forward thinking and well received singles on Stephan's own label
Resopal Schallware, most recently '
El Castillo de los Monstruos,' musical partner Frank Elting decided it was time to set out on his own sonically creative journey apart from MRI. The two remain good friends however, and will hopefully join forces again in the not too distant future.
