Jens Kuhn, also known as Lowtec & Red Sparrow and one part of the Out To Lunch collective, started DJ'ing in 1992. Always in search of new dimensions of sound, he started to produce in 1995. His releases found a home on labels such as the above mentioned Out To Lunch Records, as well as on Playhouse or the freshly founded Workshop Recordings. His productions, which are mostly in a detroit-ish house vain à la Moodymann, make him a insider tip of the electronic universe.

Instra:mental's Nonplus Records release a second EP of Jens Kuhn aka Lowtec's wayward house on their London label. Where the previous one was meandering, nonchalant layers of synths 'Coldred' kicks more firmly, still with that bleary introverted hypnosis, looped vocals accentuating. Sublime.

The second artist from Leipzig after Kassem Mosse to receive an outing on Instra:mental's Nonplus label, Jens Kuhn a.k.a. Lowtec pairs melodic synth bleeps with a minimalistically stumbling house groove on 'Wonderkidd', and delivers an ultra-deep jacker with the flipside's 'Looser'. Excellent stuff.

Arto Mwambe: "If we had to cast a techno band, Lowtec would be the man on the Hihats. This is another great release on the equally steady Polyphon label!"
