Like A Tim is Tim van Leijden, producer and label owner from Rotterdam, Holland. The name Like A Tim comes from the nickname other kids gave him at school. They thought he looked like a dead person so they called him 'Lijke-Tim' which means 'corpse Tim' in Dutch (German: Leiche-Tim) and is pronounced 'Like A Tim' in English. From young age he was impressed by all kinds of electronic pop music and later on in the eighties, hip hop had a big impact on him. He bought his first Casio sampler in 1987 and after a few years of playing around it he started buying more professional equipment and in 1991 his first records were released. Twelve Like A Tim EPs were released on Djax Up Beats Records between '92 and '97. During this period Tim developed a very unique style of electronic music, inspired by hip hop, funk, pop and techno. In '98 he released his first full album on Alec Empire's Geist Records. On the same label he also released a mini album (end of '98) and another album in '99. Dutch label Dub Records has released a limited edition picture disc of one of his live performances. In '97 Aphex Twin's label Rephlex asked him to remix a couple of their artists for a special Like A Tim remix EP. They stayed in contact and in 2000 Rephlex released his 'Red And Blue Boxing' album. In 2002 he returned with a release on Djax Up Beats and his version of disco with 'Disc O Tim' on Clone Records. After years of putting out music on different labels Tim decided it was time to start his own label. Because he's only releasing his own material on the label, Like Records seemed like an appropriate name. Since 2003 there have been eleven releases on the label.
