Considered one of the most musical and soulful of his peers, Larry Heard's place in the history of house music can only be compared to that of fellow producer legends such as Frankie Knuckles or Farley 'Jackmaster' Funk. Founding Fingers Inc. together with vocalist Robert Owens during the mid 80s, 'Mr. Fingers' Heard has been responsible for timeless house classics such as 'Can You Feel It', 'Bring Down The Walls' or 'I'm Strong'. Despite many of his songs becoming worldwide dance floor anthems, Heard has maintained a rather distant relationship to the nightclub circuit and Chicago's sample-heavy 'Jack' style, instead opting to experiment with diverse music styles and to leave the Windy City for the more contemplative surroundings of Memphis, Tennessee. After a break from the music business, he reactivated Alleviated Records in 2000, the label he had maintained during his most productive period, resuming to release sensual acid and deep house productions, mostly by Heard himself under project names such as Loosefingers or Gherkin Jerks. 2007 saw Heard once again on top of the style he helped to create: Mr. White's 'The Sun Can't Compare' became one of those tracks that virtually everyone could agree on, a hauntingly beautiful acid house anthem that united generations of club-goers - hands thrown in the air and happily singing along.
