biography
label
Coming from a highly musical family of jazz vocalists, opera singers and pianists (his uncle, Sir Roland Hanna, played with Benny Goodman and Duke Ellington), 19-year-old Kyle Hall is one of the current shooting stars of Detroit electronic music. Hall has been involved in Detroit's house music underground since age 11, when local DJ legend Raybone Jones taught him how to spin records. Subsequently mentored by Rick Wilhite and Mike Huckaby, he developed a unique style of rhythmically loose, free-floating house in his lo-fi basement studio, which first appeared on Omar S' FXHE label, and most recently on respected UK imprints Hyperdub and Third Ear Recordings.

Redshape, Actress, Trentemøller
One of the most significant months in many labels' release schedule, the month of May has blessed us with a vast amount of excellent releases. Flying Lotus' 'Cosmogramma' and Actress' 'Splazsh' weigh in as strong contenders for an Album Of The Year title, more...

Man of the moment Kyle Hall doesn't cease to impress: 'Must See' is a sweet house stomper with loose grooves and lush chords, finding its counterpart in the shuffling experimentalism of 'osc_2'. Two more house tracks display a relaxed production style that only this 19 year old seems capable of. Killer EP.
